Intent has been Oticon's flagship since 2024, and it is the device we reach for when someone's hardest listening happens in moving, unpredictable situations: a table of six at a restaurant, a family holiday, a job where people talk to you from behind.

What 4D Sensor technology actually means
Most hearing aids decide what to amplify using sound alone. They analyze what is arriving at the microphones and make a judgment about what is speech and what is noise.
Intent adds a second kind of information: how you are moving. Sensors track your head movement and your body movement alongside the acoustic environment and the conversation pattern around you. The device uses all four to infer what you are trying to listen to.
Why that matters in practice: when you turn your head toward someone who just started talking, that turn is itself a signal about your intent. When you are walking down a street, your movement pattern says something different about your listening needs than sitting still in a quiet room does. A device reading only sound has to guess. Intent has more to go on.
The result people describe most often is that group conversation stops being exhausting. The device keeps up as your attention moves around the table instead of locking onto whoever is directly in front of you.
Who Intent suits
- People whose main problem is groups and noise. If you hear fine one-on-one but dread restaurants, this is the technology built for exactly that gap
- Anyone still working, especially in meetings, on the phone, or in environments where sound comes from all directions
- Mild through severe hearing loss. Intent covers a wide fitting range
- People who want it to just work without reaching for their phone to change programs every time the room changes
Connectivity and everyday use
Intent is rechargeable, with overnight charging and all-day power. Beyond that:
- Hands-free calling, so your hearing aids act as the microphone and you can leave your phone in your pocket
- Double-tap to answer a call or pause streaming, without touching a device
- Direct streaming from iPhone, iPad, Mac, select Android devices and PCs
- TV audio through Oticon's TV Adapter, at your own volume, without turning it up for everyone else
- ConnectClip for remote-microphone streaming, useful in a lecture, a car, or across a noisy room
- Discreet enough that most people will not notice you are wearing it
Intent, Zeal, or Reveal?
The short version:
- Zeal is our specialty and the one many patients can be fitted with the same day as their evaluation. Excellent everyday device, discreet, rechargeable
- Intent adds the 4D sensor system, which earns its place when your difficulty is specifically in busy, moving, multi-talker situations
- Reveal arrives in September 2026 and adds the Dual AI system on top of that
More expensive does not automatically mean better for you. The right choice depends on your audiogram and, just as much, on where your days are actually hard. That is a conversation, and it is one we would rather have properly than shortcut.
Fitting and follow-up here
Every Intent fitting at Northeast Hearing Solutions includes a full 90-minute hearing evaluation first, live speech mapping so we verify the device is delivering the prescribed sound in your ear rather than only in the software, a 30-day trial period so you judge it in your own life, and follow-up adjustments with the person who fitted you.
Insurance and financing
Many plans include a hearing benefit, and we verify yours before your visit so there are no surprises. We work with Geisinger Gold Medicare Advantage and a range of other plans. Financing options may include PowerPay and CareCredit.
